Labor and Employee Relations Fall 2025

Do you have a Labor and/or Employee Relations challenge you want to tackle? In this project, students working in teams will examine the critical issues and procedures regarding an organization. They will bring an understanding of the major aspects of labor – employee relations in union and non – union environments. Students will also demonstrate how balanced advocacy will facilitate harmonious work environment with employer, employee, and union. The implementation of models like Ideal, Unite, Win-Win, and the 8 C Models, will bring trustworthy relationships, develop better understanding, executing negotiation, effective communication and collaboration techniques between union and management organizations as well as help in adapting with the currents challenges like COVID – 19 Pandemic.

Looking to elevate your organization, and bring it to the next level? Bring on learners from University of California, Riverside to be your learner-consultants, in a project-based experience. Learners will work on one main project over the experience of the semester, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools. Projects and process management are critical factors in business today. Each project is comprised of multiple processes and how they are directly interrelated with each other. In this course, we will examine how to map out and establish project and process management strategies to improve performance, productivity, and profit using the business model canvas and other strategic tools to achieve the desired outcomes.

Learners in this program/experience explore a comprehensive overview of human resource management functions and its relevance in today’s environment. The key concepts of HRM will be taught and executed into Human Resource Strategic Plan Presentation of an Organization by the students. The course will cover the role of human resources, skills needed in HRM, Strategic plan creation, onboarding recruitment, selection, retention, job analysis and design, employee assessment, training and development. as well as communication.
Analysis of Performance Appraisal and Evaluation Process - Winter 2025

Would you like gain a better understanding of the levers to push the performance of your employees and your organization. Student-consultants will conduct an in-depth investigation of your employee appraisal and evaluation program as a tool of development and motivation. Topics include traditional methods of employee evaluation, their values and limitations, considerations and difficulties in measuring performance and productivity, management by objectives as a technique for evaluating and measuring results of individual as well as group performance. Upon completion of the project, you will receive a detailed report and presentation.
